Wayne joined WI Harper in 2005, bringing over seven years of investment banking research, private investment and technology start-up experience. Prior to joining WI Harper, Wayne was a China Consultant to Piper Jaffray & Co. equity research team. He worked directly with Safa and was responsible for the TMT sectors covering companies in Internet, advertising, wireless services, and online games markets. Before Piper Jaffray, he was a co-founder of Xel Limited, a Bluetooth start-up company funded by Mobile Internet (Asia), where he was in charge of fundraising and international business development. He also helped bring WIDCOMM, the de facto worldwide leader in Bluetooth protocol stacks that was subsequently acquired by Broadcom (NASDAQ: BRCM) in 2003, into China. Prior to founding Xel, Wayne also served as an analyst at Yungenghu & Company, a Beijing-based financial advisory firm, where he was involved in developing business plans and financial models for domestic clients.
Wayne brings to the company a balanced profile of financial advisory, start-up operating experience and in-depth industry knowledge from his experience as a Piper Jaffray equity research analyst. He is deeply involved in sourcing deals and market/ industry knowledge. Within WI Harper, Wayne is responsible for investments in Maxthon, Chemclin, and Mapbar.
Wayne was born in China and holds a B.A. in International Economy and Trade from Peking University.
